According to a story in Friday's Cleveland Plain Dealer, Northfield Park may be on the short list of buyers of Thistledown Thoroughbred racetrack, which has been put up for sale by Magna Entertainment.
Northfield Park CEO Tom Aldrich told the newspaper that track owner Brock Milstein has already has some discussions with Magna officials regarding the possibility of buying Thistledown.
"I just know that Brock, who grew up in Cleveland and went to that racetrack as a young kid...he believes that Cleveland is a place that ought to have thoroughbred racing," said Aldrich, adding that a lot of contingencies would have to be worked out first.
