Master The Art battled back to catch Armbro Deuce in the final strides and captured the faster of two $17,000 ( C ) divisions of the Count B Pacing Series opener Friday night at Woodbine.

Luc Ouellette and the 3-year-old son of Real Artist got away first and set the pace with fractions of :27.2 and 56.1. The duo gave up the lead to Bono Bests through a third quarter of 1:23.3 but rallied in the stretch to catch Armbro Deuce at the wire, winning by a head in a lifetime best 1:52.4. Bono Bests was third by half a length.

Trained by Duane Marfisi, this was the first win in two starts this year for Master The Art, who has three wins and more than $50,000 ( C ) in career earnings for the Uncirculated Stable.

In the first division of the Count B Pacing Series race favorite Siddall and driver Mike Safitc drew away from the field in the stretch and posted a five-length triumph over Sydell and Roger Mayotte in 1:55.4. Cruisinart and Mike Langdon were third.

Another 3-year-old son of Real Artist, Siddal won for the first time in three starts this year and for just the third time in nine lifetime starts. Gregg McNair trains the colt for Jack Campbell.
