June 08, 2010 | Print View

Court Jester, with George Napolitano Jr. in the sulky, established a new life mark of 1:51.4 in winning the $20,000-$25,000 claiming handicap pace Monday (June 7) at  Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs added Monday nights to its racing card for the months of June, July and August and dropped the Friday evening cards.

Napolitano Jr. gave Court Jester a pocket trip in winning the race with the four-year-old gelding sitting second behind the front running Battleship Kelly (Joe Pavia Jr.). Fractions for Battleship Kelly were 26.3, 54.2 and 1:22.1.

Rader Detector (Larry Stalbaum) sat third for most of the race and got second behind Court Jester while Battleship Kelly was third in this race.

John Butenschoen trains Court Jester, a winner of 3 of 15 starts in 2010.

In a $20,000 claiming pace, it was Stalbaum giving Go Go Raider a two-hole trip to win in 1:52.4, another life mark. This five-year-old Keystone Raider gelding left from the three hole with Great Plains (Matt Romano) cutting out the mile. Opening panel went in 27 seconds, half in 56.1 and three-quarters in 1:23.4.
Great Plains, looking for three straight, began to fade coming down the stretch while Urbino Hanover (Tom Jackson) finished second in the race with third-place going to No Nonsense Yankee (Matt Kakaley).

Pavia Jr., Napolitano Jr. and Stalbaum each had driving doubles through the first 10 races of the 16-race initial Monday night harness action. (Pocono)
