Carol Cramer, a 42 1/2 –year employee of the U.S. Trotting Association (USTA), will spend her last day at the USTA offices in Columbus today, May 31. Cramer, who has worked on the USTA’s landmark publications the Care & Training of the Trotter & the Pacer and the annual Stakes Guide, has retired, although she will continue producing the Stakes Guide. “I was hired by Don Millar to work for Jim Harrison,” recalled Cramer. “Then Stan (Bergstein) came on board at the USTA and we started the Stakes Guide.” Cramer said she will continue to stay involved in harness racing. “I have a mare in training and my Donerail mare has just been bred to Master Lavec,” said Cramer, who lives near Washington Court House,
“I have made a lot of wonderful friends in harness racing and I’m going to stay involved," added Cramer, who also will continue to serve the sport as a Grand Circuit steward. "I have such tremendous love and respect for the people in this industry, and my passion for the sport isn’t going to be diminished. You'll see me at the tracks."
