In an unbelievable drive to the finish, Crazed and Tim Tetrick bested Deweycheatumnhowe in the first C$40,000 Canadian Trotting Classic elimination held at Mohawk on Saturday. Dewey and trainer/driver Ray Schnittker went straight to the front for a :27.2 opening quarter, with Production (Robert Bergh) sitting second and Crazed in third. Going to the :57.4 half Dewey was “unstressed” but Crazed was on the move. The 1:26.4 third quarter saw Dewey increase his lead but Crazed soon was sitting on his back until the last eighth where he pulled at the opportune time to best Dewey by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.2.
