Trainer Ross Croghan’s 180-day suspension for an elevated TCO2 test at the Meadowlands June 6 is now scheduled to begin July 23 after his request for a stay was denied by the New Jersey Racing Commission. Croghan had initially appealed the suspension that was supposed to have begun July 9, but his request for the stay was denied at a hearing Tuesday with the commission. Croghan was also fined $2,500 for the elevated test on his horse Cammabis, who equaled his career mark with a 1:51 victory June 6. The 4-year-old son of Cambest won by more than six lengths in the $11,000 conditioned race. Croghan is the leading dash-winning trainer at the Meadowlands this year, with 60 wins in 380 starts, and second on the earnings list with $1,470,430 in purses. He has a 16-percent win average and a UTR of .275, through July 14.
