Cross Creek Photo and driver Matt Kakaley captured the featured winners-over trot on Wednesday afternoon at Tioga Downs.
Leaving from post position one, Kakaley settled in third through the opening quarter, of :28.2, but was out and moving past the three-eighths pole to take control of the fractions. The duo trotted through the half-mile mark of the race in :57.2, and slowed the third quarter to a :30.1 walk, reaching the three-quarter pole in 1:27.3.
Kakaley then asked Cross Creek Photo for some trot, and he responded by trotting a final panel in :29 to stop the timer in a new lifetime mark of 1:56.3. It was the sixth win in 16 starts for the 5-year-old son of Giant Hit-Paradise Photo, who is trained and co-owned by Jody Weidman, in partnership with Wayne Worden of New York.
With the victory, Cross Creek Photo inched closer to the $100,000 plateau, and currently sits at more than $99,500. Henrytheeighthiam (Anthony Simpson) used his patented first-over grind attack just falling short to finish second, while Doc’s All Class (Corey Braden) hung on for third.
The win was part of a driving grand slam on the afternoon for Kakaley, who also steered to Carolina Raider, Proud Chipper and Dangerous Truth to victory. (Tioga Downs)
