Dan Daley’s three-year-old colt, Daley Deposit Only, scored the fastest qualifying race victory in the 44-year history of the isle pompano park Friday morning, stopping the teletimer in a blazing 1:51.2. The sophomore son of Artiscape from the Niatross mare, Sassy Cessiann, trained and driven by Dan Daley, followed stablemate Life Sizzles (Bruce Ranger) out of the gate in the 4th race pace to the opening quarter mile in :27.2. Daley then quarter moved with Daley Deposit Only to take command before the half mile pole in :56.2. Ranger then came first-over with Life Sizzles and pressed Daley Deposit Only to the three-quarter mile mark in 1:24.2. It was then that Daley Deposit Only kicked in a :27 last quarter mile to win by two open lengths. As a two year old, Daley Deposit Only had three wins, earned $22,650 mainly in stakes events and had a record of 1:55. He was bred by Ann-Mari Daley of Coral Springs and is co-owned by her with Richard Lombardo, Jared Daley and Brian Doolittle. The previous fastest qualifying race ever at the isle pompano park was 1:52.2 set by The Paper Wazoo on March 22, 2002. The track record at the isle pompano park for a three-year-old pacing colt is 1:51.2 set by Beach Towel and driver/trainer Ray Remmen on November 2, 1990 in the Breeders Crown.
