Uncirculated Stable's Dali and Francis Azur's Blueridge Western, winners of last week's $41,519 eliminations, lead eight fast 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers in the $249,113 Matron Series final at Dover Downs on Monday night.
Living up to his name of the master painter Dali, the son of Real Artist missed the track record of 1:49.1 by one-fifth of a second in his Matron elim last Monday, teamed with Ron Pierce. The other Matron elim was won impressively with Dave Palone driving Blueridge Western to a 1:51.1 score. Each of the margins of victory was 1 3/4 lengths.
Last week's runners-up were Lisfinny (David Miller) and Proper Respect (Eric Goodell). Santanna Blue Chip (Jody Jamieson) and Jo Pa's Wild Card (John Campbell) finished third and the fourth-place qualifiers were First Rate and Mystery Chase. Somebeachsomewhere was a pre-race scratch with illness. The Matron final is set for the 12th race on a power packed 15-race program. Here is the Matron field, in post position order: PP Horse (driver)
1 First Rate (Tim Curtin)
2 Blueridge Western (Dave Palone) 3 Mystery Chase (Donnie Russell) 4 Lisfinny (David Miller) 5 Proper Respect (TBA) 6 Dali (Ron Pierce) 7 Santanna Blue Chip (Jody Jamieson) 8 Jo Pa's Wild Card (John Campbell) (Dover Downs)
