Dancer splits for fillies

Xhilaration paced to a 1:54.1 score and Western Wisdom turned in a 1:54 effort to win the two $76,262 splits of the Helen Dancer Memorial for 3-year-old pacing fillies Friday afternoon at Freehold Raceway. Blossom winner Future Destiny finished second in the division won by Western Wisdom.

Xhilaration, a daughter of Western Hanover, was sent to the front by driver George Brennan before the half. After she cleared she steadily pulled away from the field, eventually winning by seven lengths. Bikini Bottom was the second-place finisher.

Breeder Kathleen Montagne owns and trains Xhilaration.

Western Wisdom started from post one and never gave an edge to her foes, setting the pace and winning over Future Destiny, who enjoyed a two-hole trip but couldn’t get past her rival.
