With Painted Speed taking a week off, Dan Chaz ($2.60) returned to the Northfield Park winner's circle in Saturday's $6,000 Open Pace after two straight second-place efforts to Painted Speed in the top pace.
Owner-driver Ryan Stahl picked up his third win in the first four races with his 7-year-old Expensive Scooter gelding. He won an early duel with Misty's Dignity for the lead and controlled the race through fractions of :27.3, :57 and 1:25.1 en route to the 1:53.4 victory, his third in 13 starts this year.
The win pushed his earnings over the $200,000 mark. Delivered Rules finished second and Blue My Mind was a surprising third. Kent Sherman trains the winner for Stahl and also conditioned Mainline Hall and Snappy Sport to victory in the early double, both with Stahl piloting. (Northfield Park)
