April 21, 2005 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Hoosier Park director of Standardbred racing Kevin Mack has announced he has already received commitments from six trainers for the 12th annual $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational Pace on Saturday, April 30.

Already committed to the Dan Patch is Life Source, who finished third in last year's edition. The four-time winner in 2005 (including a season-best 1:49) will be joined by Maltese Artist, who has the driving committment of locally-based Ricky Macomber Jr., who has won the Dan Patch two of the last five years.

"The Gray Gladiator," Admiral's Express, will also make the ship across the border from Canada to compete in the Dan Patch. The Michigan-owned and bred pacer has earnings of more than $1.1 million.

Woodbine's Spring Pacing Championship winner Whosurboy is also being sent by trainer Mark Ford. Eaton Road Kill, the runner-up in last year's Dan Patch, will also return, as will the Chicago-based Johnny B Cool N.

This year's Dan Patch field will expand to 10 horses. "We wanted to add this additional horse to assist with the betting in the race and bring in as many of the top horses around the country as we can," said Mack.

Also at Hoosier Park, purses have been increased 10 percent as of Saturday, April 23.
