Dates at Prairie Meadows

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission shortened the 2006 harness meet at Prairie Meadows by three dates at a meeting on Thursday. The track will now hold 14 dates instead of 17.



Standardbreds will race for $630,000 in purse money at Prairie Meadows over the 14 days, an average of $45,000 per card. An additional $1.3 million will be paid out for harness purses at the Iowa county fairs.



Prairie Meadows and the Iowa harness horsemen had argued about the number of harness dates and the Iowa commission stepped in to resolve the impasse.
