Dave Brower, the morning-line oddsmaker, handicapper and TV co-host at the Meadowlands since 1996, told harnessracing.com Friday morning that he has decided to leave the track. Brower was also a regular contributor to the Drive Time segment broadcast on TVG, giving viewers an insider’s perspective of racing at the Big M.
“After serving the Meadowlands Racetrack as handicapper, oddsmaker and TV host over the majority of the past 20 years, I feel it's time for me to move on,” said Brower, who will continue his work as social media consultant with Bogle Agency Insurance in New Jersey. “It has always been my pleasure to be associated with the greatest team in harness racing and that's what I will miss most. Sam McKee, Ken Warkentin, Bob Heyden and all the good folks I've worked with in our television production department and media relations and marketing offices have become lifelong friends. That will never change. As most of us in the sport know, harness racing never leaves your blood, so I look forward to just being a fan again.
“I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jeff Gural and the momentous task that awaits him and his new management team. I hope they can return the Meadowlands to its rightful place as the ultimate showplace of the sport!”
