Dave Panlone set for Big M

Dave Panlone, who won his North America Cup elim and then finished fourth in the final, will make his next start in the Meadowlands Pace eliminations. The colt’s trainer, Jim Arledge Jr., says of his chances in the Meadowlands Pace, “He seems real good right now.”

Dave Panlone raced two heats in the Hoosier Cup and finished fourth in the final heat after suffering from traffic troubles.

“He just got stopped and moved around too much in the Hoosier Cup,” said Arledge of the trip. “He doesn’t need a perfect trip. He can go with them anytime. But they all need a decent trip. If any of (the top colts) get roughed up, they can get beat. Obviously, Artistic Fella and Total Truth are the ones to beat.”

Dave Panlone was turned out for four days after racing two heats in the Hoosier Cup last Saturday. “I just brought him in from the field this morning,” said Arledge Thursday.

Arledge has no plans to qualify or race Dave Panlone before the Meadowlands Pace elims. “If he’s not tight by now, we’re in trouble,” he said.
