It’s 9,000 wins and counting for 44-year-old driver David Miller, who hit the milestone on Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands, becoming the third youngest driver to ever reach that mark. Both Walter Case Jr. and Dave Palone reached the 9,000-win milestone younger than Miller. With his win behind Redstone Ruckus in Sunday’s sixth race at the Meadowlands.“It’s something I’m very proud of. It’s a great accomplishment,” Miller said. “Those wins don’t come easy. I’ve been very fortunate.” Miller currently ranks 11th in harness history for wins and, with $121 million in career purses, is No. 5 in earnings. He is looking for his second driving title at the Meadowlands and is currently atop the standings with 95 wins through March 22. Miller shared leading driver honors with Luc Ouellette in 2003, four years after moving from his native Ohio to New Jersey. He won the pacing Triple Crown with No Pan Intended that year and was subsequently named Driver of the Year by the U.S. Harness Writers Association. Last year, Breeders Crown triumphs with Fox Valley Topaz and A And G’sconfusion at the Meadowlands helped propel Miller to a career-best $12.1 million in earnings. (Meadowlands)
