Dead heat at Big M

The photo finish could not separate Apache Hotspur and Live Out Loud at the wire, and they were both declared winners of the featured race at the Meadowlands Saturday night and shared the winning time of 1:51.



Live Out Loud cut the fractions while Apache Hotspur made his bid out of the two hole, getting up in the final strides for the dead heat. They finished a length and three-quarters ahead of Deliver The Goods in third.



Apache Hotspur, driven by Cat Manzi and trained by Nelson Willis, posted his fourth win with two seconds and four thirds from 11 starts this year. The four-year-old gelded son of Apache Hanover races for Richard Beere of Waterford, Wisconsin, and is entered in next Thursday's opening round of the three-week Fox Sports Net Series.



Live Out Loud, with Mike Lachance in the sulky and his son, Patrick Lachance, training, picked up his second win of the year with one second and two thirds from 10 tries. The 5-year-old gelded son of Art's Conquest, owned by M&M Harness Racing LLC of Nanuet, NY, enjoys a bankroll of more than $450,000. (Meadowlands press release)
