Deadline for slots license

Wednesday is the deadline set by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for slots license applications. Pocono Downs filed its application, along with the required $50 million check to the state, earlier this month, and 13 other licenses are available.



All of Pennsylvania's racetracks are expected to apply for casino licenses, although only Pocono Downs had submitted an application before Dec. 26. The gaming board has said that it hopes to issue conditional casino licenses for the six licensed racetracks by late summer.



According to a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board now has a staff of more than 100 administrative and investigative members and regional offices in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
