Harness Horsemen International reminds interested persons that the June 1 deadline is fast approaching to apply for the 22nd annual Jerome L. Hauck Scholarship. The award, in the amount of $4,000 will be granted to a worthy recipient who is the son or daughter of a full-time Standardbred groom or the son or daughter of a member of an HHI affiliated association.
To be considered, a student must demonstrate exceptional scholarship, citizenship and leadership. Candidates must have completed high school or its equivalent and are entering college for the first time. Financial need is also a major factor in determining the award recipient.
Students wishing to apply should contact the HHI office or their local horseman’s association for an application and additional information. HHI is located at 319 High Street, Suite 2, Burlington, NJ 08016.
The HHI scholarship is presented in memory of Jerome L. Hauck, one of the founders of HHI, who served as president for 12 years.
HHI is an association comprised of 16 associations representing nearly 10,000 members and was organized nearly 50 years ago as an association of men and women dedicated to the improvement of all facets of the harness racing industry.
