Walnut Hall Ltd.'s Debbie Hall won the lone $50,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes division for 2-year-old filly trotters Sunday night at The Red Mile, while Prayerinmotion, a full brother to Hambletonian elim starter Western Prayer, captured one of two $25,000 divisions for 2-year-old colt trotters.
Debbie Hall was the last of five winners on the card for driver Mike Lachance, who directed the daughter of Like A Prayer--all 12 of the starters in the contest were daughters of Like A Prayer--to the 1:57.4 victory. Trained by Fred Grant, the victory came in her second career start.
Ricky Macomber Jr. was in the sulky behind Prayerinmotion, who crossed the wire in 1:59.2. The son of Like A Prayer is owned by Jonas Martinand trainer Jacob Graber. Prayerinmotion is now two-for-two in his young career.
LIke A Dream captured the other freshman colt trotting split in 1:59.3 for driver Lachance, trainer Bobby Brower and owner CM Stables.
Beachy Girl remained unbeaten in five starts after an oh-so-easy, 5 3/4-length win in a career-best 1:53 in one of three $20,000 KYSS divisions for 2-year-old filly pacers. Macomber was in the sulky for trainer Joe Seekman, who shares ownership with Hal Hewitt. The daughter of Real Desire was coming off a victory in the Whenuwishuponastar final at Mohawk.
Cuzzin Sally won the first KYSS split for freshman filly pacers with a 1:55.2 effort for driver Dave Palone. The daughter of Real Desire is trained by Steve Ellliott for owner the Cuzzins Stable. Macomber and Office Witch took the last split in 1:56.3 for her first victory in two attempts. Mickey Burke trains the daughter of Cambest for owners Baldachino, Clayville, Cherichello and Burke.
MCA took the first of three $20,000 KYSS divisions for 2-year-old colt pacrs with a career-best 1:53 effort for driver Palone. The son of Real Desire is trained by Mickey Burke for owner Ringer, Cherichello, Karr and Burke. The other divisions went to Racin Best and driver Tom Sells, trainer Kevin Thomas and owner Dobbin Standardbreds, in 1:54.2, and Tom Crouch's Strung Out, who won in 1:56 for driver Mark O'Mara and trainer Bob Stewart.
Racin Best is a son of Cambest, while Strung Out is by Jate Lobell.
Also of note on the card, Larpege, a 2-year-old son of Daguet Rapide out of Hambletonian winner Continentalvictory, broke his maiden with a 1:58.2 effort in a $2,100 conditioned trot. Lachance drove Larpege to the upset victory as the freshman went off at odds of 39-1.
