DeFrank named at Pompano

September 26, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Greg DeFrank has been named as the new racing secretary at Pompano Park. DeFrank, whose experience dates back to the early 1980s, will assume his position immediately as Pompano Park moves closer to the opening date of its new casino, now expected early in the first quarter of 2007.

DeFrank began his career at Hazel Park, where he was program director. Since then, he has held positions at Northfield Park, the Meadowlands, Scioto Downs, Indiana Downs and Vernon Downs, among others. His most recent position was at the new Tioga Downs, outside of Binghamton, N.Y., where he was vice president and director of racing and responsible for the creation of major races—both early and late-closing events.

In announcing the appointment, vice president of racino operations Doug Shipley said, “After a lengthy search, we are proud to announce the addition of Greg to our team. Pompano Park is striving to seek out ‘simply the best’ executives in both the racing and casino industries and we feel that he is the perfect person in our quest to achieve our future goals.”

In accepting his new position, DeFrank said, “Because of the overwhelming success and wonderful treatment that I received at Tioga, this was a difficult decision, however, the exceptional opportunity to create a great racing forum at Pompano and, once again, be home, were the deciding factors."
