Delay at Plainridge

The fans of live racing at Plainridge Racecourse will have to wait a bit longer for the opening card of at the 2006 meet -- but the wait will only be 24 hours.



The Massachusetts track had been dark for several days while the state legislature haggled over racing legislation that had lapsed. The issue was resolved yesterday, and Plainridge had hoped to race both Monday and Tuesday this coming week.



However, the horse population dictated otherwise, and it was determined that it was in the best interests of all parties concerned to race one extensive card on Tuesday.



The Tuesday card, which will go to post at 4 p.m. (EDT), will be drawn on Saturday morning.
