Delivering a series win

February 25, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The wind was a tough foe for the pacesetters on the backstretch at the Meadowlands Saturday night, but it pushed several horses to fast final quarters - and victories - including Deliver The Goods in the $65,000 Exit 16W final.

Deliver The Goods paced his final quarter in :26 flat via a second-over trip to win over Ithinki'msomebody and Mr. Delite. Ron Pierce put Mr. Delite on the front end before the half but he later tired, allowing Deliver The Goods to sweep by.

The first two finishers - Deliver The Goods and Ithinki'msomebody - are both sired by stallions standing in the Illinois. Deliver The Goods is by Richess Hanover while Sportsmaster sired the runner-up.

This was the second series final victory of the night for Brian Sears, who took the first big race, the Jr. Trendsetter, one race earlier.

Ken Rucker trains Deliver The Goods for Niss Allen Inc. The horse has now won four of six starts this season.
