The 45th edition of the Delvin Miller Adios at The Meadows, carrying a purse of $500,000, was won by 17-1 longshot Delmarvlaous in a seven-horse, one-length blanket finish in 1:49.2 lifetime best win for the Badlands Hanover colt. Driven by Brian Sears, in his second Adios win, for trainer George Teague and owners Badlands Racing, George Teague, Elmer Fannin,and Howard Dorfman, Delmarvalous, who had been winless on the season, grabbed control of the race from post eight within the first few strides. On top as the field wheeled by the quarter in :25.4, Delmarvalous was challenged by several horses during the mile but fought back gamely for the win with Versado, who was in extremely close quarters in the last part of the mile nearly collided with another horse, but recovered to finish second. Pang Shui was third. "He utilized his early speed to capitalize," said trainer George Teague. "He just hasn't been a lucky horse, who finally got lucky in this race. He's going to the Jug next."
