Deweycheatumnhowe, the 3-5 betting choice, turned the Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Colt Trot into a walk in the park as he won by open lengths in 1:57.2 for trainer-driver Ray Schnittker. Second choice Lear Jetta enjoyed a pocket trip but was edged by 29-1 shot Celebrity Secret on the wire.

Tim Tetrick, driving Lear Jetta, made "Dewey" work to take the lead, keeping him parked until just about the time the timer flashed :28.4 for the opening quarter. Andy Miller tried to drop in at the pylons with Intimidator, a 90-1 shot, but Tetrick stayed on Schnittker's helmet.

Going to the half Schnittker slowed the tempo, reaching the midway mark in :57.1, then got a big :31 breather to the third quarter (1:28.1) before his big Muscles Yankee colt powered home.

Deweycheatumnhowe is now undefeated in 10 career starts for Schnittker and his partners.Ted Gewertz, Charles Iannazzo, the Deweycheatumnhow Stable (Frank Baldassare and Walnut Hall Ltd.) and Jerry Silva and Tad Egloff. Jones and Egloff bought into the colt following his Breeders Crown elim victory. Their purchase of seven shares pushed the colt's value to $4.2 million.

The last 2-year-old colt trotter to put together an undefeated season was Cantab Hall. "Going 10 for 10 with a horse, I know it will probably never happen to me again," noted Schnittker.
