It was Deweycheatumnhowe's day in Lexington as the Muscles Yankee colt sat behind Celebrity Secrety in the race-off for the $684,000 Kentucky Futurity, then in the homestretch sprint pulled alongside his rival and finally put his nose on the wire first in 1:59.3.
Celebrity Secret drew post one for the race-off and driver John Campbell took control of the race at the start, and trainer-driver Ray Schnittker willingly took the tuck behind with Dewey. Celebrity Secret trotted through fractions of :30.2, 1:02 and 1:33.1 before the homestretch sprint.
The two Futurity victories on Saturday gave Dewey a slate of 11 wins and one second and one third in 13 starts this season for the Deweycheatumnhowe Stable, Charles Iannazzo and Ted Gewertz.
