Two eliminations were held for the Dexter Cup Saturday afternoon at Freehold, and the winners were Ira K and A Rod, two sons of the sire Yankee Glide.

Ira K started from post seven and proceeded to wire his field for driver Yannick Gingras. He won by 3 ˝ lengths over Brind’amour in 1:59.1 with Frank The Hands third. Betting favorite Always a Winner broke stride at the start and finished last in the field of seven.

Owned by Ira Kristel of New York, Ira K is out of the stakes-winning mare Box Trot.

A Rod took the second elimination over Macdeen Star and Sergeant Jack with a 1:58.4 score for driver George Brennan. Ray Schnittker trains and co-owns A Rod, who now has three wins in eight starts this season.
