Kyle DiBenedetto won two more races at Monticello Raceway on Monday as he continues to close in on the milestone of 5,000 career victories, now sitting just seven away at 4,993. He reined Sitting Bull Stables' Blue Creek Angie ($4) to a 1:59.1 victory in the seventh race and then came back to win the 13th and final race on the card with Vincent Grippa’s Button Road ($11.20) in a time of 1:59.2. DiBenedetto, who began his career here as a teenager, currently is second on the local leaderboard with 125 wins. From 1986 and continuing through the present time, DiBenedetto, 41, has never won less than 129 races during a season. His biggest output came during the 1997 campaign when he had 317 driving victories and copped the driving crown at the Mighty M with 304 wins. The following year DiBenedetto reined 275 winners, of which his 242 triumphs here again led the local driving colony. The talented reinsman began the 2009 campaign with 4,856 lifetime wins which at that time ranked him 71st all-time in the sport. (Monticello)
