Dink Adoo in Su Mac Lad

March 21, 2005 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Dink Adoo extended his winning streak to 10 with a 1 1/4-length victory in a $50,000 first-leg divisions of the Su Mac Lad Series Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands.

Dink Adoo is a perfect six-for-six in 2005 and has not lost a race since August 21, 2004, when he finished second in a deadheat at Northfield Park.

Cat Manzi positioned Dink Adoo on the back of 2004 Su Mac Lad winner HP Paque into the stretch and tipped around him to make his successful bid. Cordial Martini came up the inside to finish second with Upalazyriver finishing third. HP Paque finished fourth while Mysterious Speed, the early leader, faded to fifth and Fool's Goal, making his 2005 debut, was sixth.

Dink Adoo, a 6-year-old gelded son of Inquirer, trotted the mile in 1:55, equaling his lifetime best. He now has 31 wins, 23 seconds and 12 thirds in 101 lifetime starts and earnings of $313,800. Trained by Ken Rucker, the trotter is owned by Spiridon Apostolatos' Panhellenic Stable Corp.

In the second division ENS Snapshot, unraced in 2004, posted his first win in three starts this year.

Argentinean-bred Chucaro Ahijuna, who had swept the Mack Lobell Series at Pompano Park, was sent off as the even-money favorite, but he broke stride on the first turn and was never a factor.

ENS Snapshot, driven by David Miller and trained by Steve Elliott, covered the mile in 1:56.2, winning by a half-length over a fast-closing Hurri Kane Billy G. Approved Action, who set the pace, finished third.

ENS Snapshot, who won his Hambletonian elimination and was seventh in the 2002 final, has 11 wins, four seconds and six thirds from 37 career starts and earnings of $384,460. He was injured at four and missed more than a year with a suspensory injury. He has earned $30,100 since current owner Barry Alfred acquired him last November at the Harrisburg Sale.
