April 21, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Both Diva Diva and Slave Dream excelled Monday at the Isle Pompano Park, each winning their respective $20,000 divisions of the second round of the Trots N Slots Trotting Series.

Diva Diva ($6.20) showed her heels to her male rivals for trainer/driver Andy Santeramo, leading from start to finish in the third race first division of the series, scoring a three and one-half length romp in 1:55. El Hombre Dan (Anthony Napolitano) was second with Farmer Jones (Kevin Wallis) third even after making a break coming down the stretch.

It was a lifetime mark for Diva Diva, a 6-year-old mare by Yankee Paco who is owned by the Joel Benson Stable of Ft. Lauderdale.

In the fifth race second division of the series, track record holder Slave Dream ($3.40) and driver David Ingraham scored their third straight win with a gutsy neck triumph over Too Salty (Bruce Ranger) and O-Georgie (Napolitano) in 1:55.4.

Blessed Victory (Wally Hennessey) had cut the mile from the start and Slave Dream came first-over before the half mile marker but could not clear. Too Salty then made a three-wide move on the final turn but could not collar Slave Dream by the finish wire.

Owned by Franco Cianci, Isidoro Russo and Vincenzo Monticciolo of Quebec, Slave Dream is a 4-year-old gelded son of Pearsall Hanover and is trained by Jean Beaulieu. Slave Dream has yet to finish worse than third place in his last eight starts.

A classic match-up will take place next Monday, April 27 as Slave Dream takes on Diva Diva in the $42,500 final of the Trots N Slots Series.

The odds are 5,040 to 1 of it ever happening and it did Monday in the second race $5,000 pace at the Isle Pompano Park. The order of finish of the race was in perfect order, 1 through 7.

Doll R General ($6.40), the second choice in the race and driver Napolitano led from start to finish, winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.3. The official order was then post 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. (Pompano)
