Doctor Viagra, with a late surge at the wire, beat both Eleven A M and Honest Lawyer by a head in capturing the $10,000 Open Handicap Pace over a sloppy, rain-soaked track in 1:52.2 at Pompano Park Saturday. Driven by Brett Miller, Doctor Viagra posted his sixth win this year for the Ellacott Shaker Stable of Beachwood, Ohio, and trainer Bud Foster.

The featured race started off with Eleven A M and driver Bruce Ranger going to the early lead from post five with Doctor Viagra grabbing the two-hole spot from the rail as they went to the opening quarter mile in :27.3.

Daryl Bier had Honest Lawyer on the move and they took the lead away from Eleven A M before the half in :55.2. Then in the backstretch Ranger came first-over with Eleven A M and pushed the pace to the three quarters in 1:24.

Meanwhile, Miller and Doctor Viagra sat comfortably in third place along the rail until they turned for home and in a Calvary charge to the wire, Doctor Viagra just got up in the final strides to win the photo finish. Eleven A M was second with Honest Lawyer third.

In a rare occurrence Saturday, the number 6 horse won four straight races and five of the first six races on the program.
