Dolezal injured in Calif. crash

David Dolezal, the editor of the defunct harness publications Hub Rail, The Harness Horse and times: in harness, is recovering following a serious recent vehicle collision in central California.
 
Dolezal, a companion, and Dolezal's dog, were seated in the front seat of his mobile home after leaving Yosemite National Park. Nearing Fresno, an auto driving at a high rate of speed in the opposite lane struck Dolezal's vehicle which was totaled.
 
The automobile had passed five cars and while attempting to quickly move ahead of another car into the right lane, suddenly veered out of control crossing over the highway to plow into the Dolezal vehicle on an oblique angle on the front drivers side.
 
The 28-year-old driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Dolezal, who recently underwent a hip replacement and back surgery, is recovering. Both his companion and canine also required attention.

 

Dolezal, 72, had been touring national parks and sites in California and was planning to visit North Western states.
 
Dolezal, an Ohio native, was a harness print-media journalist as well as a founder of several organizations in the sport. (By Marv Bachrad)
