V Squared was a repeat winner while Lexis Amigo bounced back from a tough loss to capture their respective divisions in Sunday’s second leg of the Don Mills Trotting Series for 4 year olds at Woodbine Racetrack.

Scott Zeron did some fancy stick handling with V Squared on the final turn in the opening $25,000(C) contest and the pair prevailed by almost a length, in 1:56.1. Celebrity Hercules finished a lapped-on second, with Good Luck Penny rounding-out the top three. V Squared returned $4.80 as the public choice.

The gelded son of Pegasus Spur-Ion Rouge, who won 13 of 24 starts last season, is now three for four early in 2010 for Scott Zeron, who co-owns along with Michael Katz, Stephen Waldman and Scott Robinson. Father Rick Zeron does the training of V Squared.

In the second division, Lexis Amigo rebounded after making a late break in stride in leg one of the series to post a dominant win for driver Mike Saftic, in 1:55.4. The gelded son of Amigo Hall-Lexus Hall cruised to victory over Kilted Pride and Tad The Stud while kicking back $5.90 for the win.

It was the first trip to the winner’s circle this season in three starts for Lexis Amigo, who is owned and trained by Norm Dunstan of Caledon Village, Ont.

The $60,000(C) Don Mills Trotting Series Final will go postward next Sunday afternoon at Woodbine. (WEG)
