Don't Deny Me sweeps Jersey Girls

Don’t Deny Me made it four wins in a row after steamrolling past competitors in the $71,400 Jersey Girls final Thursday night at the Meadowlands, hitting the wire in a stakes record time of 1:50.3.

Don’t Deny Me [$3.00 $2.20 $2.10] and driver David Miller moved to the front past the half and wore down the pacesetter Natalie to prevail by 1 1-2 lengths. Autumn Magic [$3.20 $3.20] and Miss Scarlett [$6.80] were second and third, respectively.

“She just deserves all the credit,” Miller said of Don’t Deny Me. “She’s a hell of a horse.  As a series, it worked out great.  She got good trips [each week].  She’s headed in the right direction, that’s for sure. She’s a gutsy performer and she’s pretty tough.”

Trained and owned by Ken Rucker, Don’t Deny Me is now 4 for 9 in 2009.  She boosted her career earnings to more than $190,000.

Earlier in the card, Dinneratartsplace, trained by James Eaton and with driver Brian Sears in tow, won the first leg of the $19,000 S.N.Y. stakes in 1:50.  The series continues with a second leg next Thursday. (Meadowlands)
