For the second straight time High Calibre N won the $30,000 Delaware Special at Dover Downs as Steve Warrington guided a 1:53.3 win on the New Year's Day card over a "sloppy" track. Meet-leading driver Tim Tetrick drove Lather Machine to victory in the $25,000 Open, one of his five wins. Tony Morgan was honored as 2006 leading dash-win driver, winning 1,004 races.

Post one has been good for the now 7-year-old altered son of Fake Left again. Warrington took the lead at the start and never looked back fending off a challenge from Art Director and Tim Tetrick at the three-quarters. Gold Rocket A appeared his strongest opponent at the top of the lane but the Morgan-driven pacer made a sudden break pulling out of second. Wardog Hall and Ross Wolfenden rushed down the stretch to finish second with Black Cat Bone third.

Since the start of the current meet, the Greg Simendinger-owned High Calibre N has two wins, two seconds, two thirds and two fourths in eight Delaware Special races.

Tetrick made the winner's circle after driving Gary and Barbara Iles' homebred Lather Machine to an impressive 1:52.1 win to take the $25,000 Open Pace. The 4-year-old altered son of Badlands Hanover was ushered into the lead on the clubhouse turn and rolled on from there to an easy victory beating Midnight Walk (Wolfenden) and Ross The Boss N (Roger Plante) home.

Victor Vuitton N circled the field from far back with Tim Curtin at the controls in a 1:55.1 victory in an $18,500 winners-Over pace. The New Zealand-bred son of Dream Away raced four wide around the final turn and then sped past the leaders to victory for owners Carter Racing Stable and Bobby Myers. Wizsell (Plante) took second honors. Marced Card (David Miller) was third.

Scott Dillon's Artchie Andrews put on a strong stretch drive to score a 1:53.1 triumph in a one of three $18,000 winners-over paces. The win was the first of two for David Miller. Fields Of Honour A (Curtin) was runner-up. Lotsa Guy (Morgan) took third.

In another $18,000 winners-over pace, Morgan used the passing lane to drive Sam Jacobs and Crissman Inc.'s Im A Rustler Too to victory in 1:54.4. Coldheartedrevenge (Brandon Gives) was second in front of fat closing Crystal Art (Jim Morand).

Bully McCool made it two straight wins in an $18,000 winners-over pace. Givens piloted the 1:53.3 win for Wendy Crissman and Raymat Racing. Philosopher King (George Dennis) was next and Print It (Frank Milby) closed to finish third.

Sharky Osborne made his first local start for new owners Gary Minner and Pete Richardson a success when Tetrick won his first of two wins guiding an easy 1:53 score in a $14,000 male pace. Motu Hat Trick N (Dennis) and Josh's Z Tam (Miler) came on to take second and third respectively.

Another winner of a second straight start was Armbro David, Tetrick's fourth winner of the day in a $15,000 4- and 5-year-old pace. Owned by Vernon Cannon and Wilson and trainer Jeff Clark, the 4-year-old Blissfull Hall gelding held off Fade N Away (Hanners), second, and Streetcar (Morgan) for the 1:53 win. (Dover Downs)
