Down-Under night at Dover

Return Home
November 13, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

A pair of Down Under-bred pacers, Commander Turk N and Bullion Bill A, won the twin-feature races on another rainy and windy Thursday at Dover Downs.

Corey Callahan drove Commander Turk N to a 1:53.2 victory in the $15,000 pace holding off late-charging Baby Teeth (Tony Morgan) and Richard Henry N (Ron Pierce), the second and third-place finishers. The win was one of two for the father-son team of trainer Nick Callahan and driver Corey Callahan. John Swart shares ownership with Nick Callahan.

For the second straight night, Pierce collected a driving quadruple. Pierce's fourth win came guiding Bullion Bill A to victory in 1:54.3 to win a $20,000 Delaware pace. The win gave trainer Chuck Crissman and owners Robbins Nest Farm and Wendy Crissman three wins each during the rain-soaked program. Victor Vuitton N (Bret Brittingham) finished a game second in front of Mighty River A (Ross Wolfenden).

Wolfenden also drove four winners completing the program steering Bonnie Benson's Yankee Fortysix to a 1:54.1 triumph in an $11,900 Delaware pace. Al Ibad Spider (Corey Callahan) was runner-up. Bad Rusty (Eddie Davis Jr.) was the show horse.

In addition to Pierce and Wolfenden, each with a four-bagger, Callahan and Sean Bier made the winner's circle two times each. (Dover Downs)
