The Race Track Industry Program (RTIP) at the University of Arizona has announced the “$1,500 Funniest Horse Racing Video Contest” that encourages racing fans to use their camcorders or camera phones to capture or create clips that reflect the lighter side of horse racing.
This is the first time the RTIP has offered a public contest in connection with it’s annual Symposium on Racing & Gaming, which is the premiere gathering of racing’s leaders. The contest is open to anyone with a camera and imagination –entries may be candid camera style or scripted sketches. Finalist videos will be showcased at the 2010 Symposium.
“We saw what creative talent there is in racing when commercials were judged by Symposium attendees last year at the closing session, ‘A Commercial Break.’ There are also a lot of creative and passionate fans of the sport so this will give them a chance to demonstrate that talent and at the same time everyone can enjoy the fun and lighter side of the sport,” said Doug Reed, director of the Race Track Industry Program.
Video submissions will be accepted via YouTube and finalists will be chosen by an online vote. The winners will be chosen by attendees at the 2010 Symposium on Racing & Gaming, held Dec. 6-9 at the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Ariz.
(1) First Place Winner will receive $1,000 cash prize (2) Second Place Winner will receive $350 cash prize (3) Third Place winner will receive $150 cash prize
