Driver is 53rd to 5,000

Return Home
June 28, 2006 | Print View

Driver Andy Miller won his 5,000th career race Tuesday night at Balmoral Park, scoring the milestone victory with Della Ware. Miller, 37, has been plitting time between New Jersey and Illinois for most of the 2006 season but the hectic travel schedule has not slowed him down one bit as he once again ranks among the sports leaders in both races won and purse earnings.

Miller becomes only the seventh Chicago based driver to hit this coveted plateau, joining such Prairie State greats as Hall of Famer Dave Magee, Tony Morgan, Dale Hiteman, Walter Paisley, Daryl Busse and Ron Marsh.

Miller-driven horses have also racked up more than $41 million in purse earnings since he started his driving career started at the age of 16. He is the 53rd driver in history to reach 5,000 victories.
