Ron Pierce and Mike Lachance are headed to Italy on Sunday to drive at two racetracks in a special promotion designed to put a spotlight on the two North American Hall of Famers.
“They needed a couple of guys from North America to compete so Mike and I will go and race at one track in Venice and another just outside of Venice,” Pierce told harnessracing.com. “It’s for publicity to get people to come to the track; they’ll be showing us off.”
Pierce said he and Lachance will spend four days in Italy, returning to the United States on Thursday night, Dec. 21.
By the way, Pierce has posted career-best numbers in 2006, with more than $14.1 million in purse earnings. Based on five-percent commission, that comes to an income of more than $700,000—or 531,476 Euro in case he wants to bring any extra spending money.
