Dr. Scot Waterman, executive director of the Racing Medication and Testing Consortium, is the 2008 winner of Harness Tracks of America’s Distinguished Service Award. Waterman will receive HTA’s equine bronze at the association’s Nova Awards dinner Tuesday night, Feb. 19, during the joint HTA/TRA annual meeting at the Renaissance Vinoy hotel in St. Petersburg, Fla. A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and an honors graduate of the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program, Dr. Waterman played a leading role in the creation of the Medication and Testing Consortium and has been its leader and driving force Brock Milstein, president of HTA, called Waterman’s work “inspirational, and of huge benefit to the entire horseracing industry. Without him there would be no RMTC today.”(HTA)
