DSBF 2-year-old splits raced at Harrington

Six $20,000 divisions of the second leg for the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes for 2-year-old pacers were contested Monday at Harrington Raceway. There were three divisions apiece for colts and fillies.

There was an event held as an early non-wagering race which went to Nanticoke Racing and Donna Messick's Ilikethemtrashy (Jim Morand), who was a 1:56 winner for trainer Les Givens. The Art Director-sired colt improved to three-for-five lifetime after reeling in a game Company After Six at the wire.

Another offspring of Art Director was the victor in the second division for colts as Kovach Stables and Tina Clark's Artistic Director ($16.80) parlayed a pocket trip to victory in 1:58.2. Trained by Bobby Clark, ‘Director' was able to outpace the pacesetting favorite Ramblin Bob late for a narrow win.

The final colt division went to heavily favored Hot Roddy ($2.60, George Dennis) for owners Rodney Long, Tim and Jim Hundertpfund. The Roddy's Bags Again colt set all the fractions in his 1:56.2 win. Trained by Joe Hundertpfund, he completed a sweep of his elimination races.

Dianne and Joel Halpern's Bags of Stars ($3.60, Ben Stafford Jr.) won the first filly division in 1:58.1. The daughter of Roddy's Bags Again was able to sustain a strong first over bid in her one-length victory.

The Stafford stable registered a training double by following up a win in the second division with By Design ($12.20, Ben Stafford Jr.). The Roddy's Bags Again sired-filly charged home through the stretch to prevail at 6-1.

Wayne Givens-trained Seboomook Pandora ($6.60, Mike Cole) took the final division for owners Legacy Racing of Delaware in 1:57.3. A daughter of Cams Fortune, ‘Pandora' was a front-end winner to claim her first win in six career starts for Harrington's leading trainer Wayne Givens, who carries a slim two win lead over his brother Les in the current trainers' standings.

In the $22,000 Open Pace earlier on the program, Toby Lynch Jr.'s Sunshine Superman ($7.20, Jason Lynch) was a wire-to-wire winner in 1:54. (Harrington)
