Four $20,000 elimination divisions of the first leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes for 3-year-old trotters were contested at Harrington Raceway Sunday.
Rod Allen’s Airborne Commando (2:01, Allen) was the fastest of the two colt divisions with a front-stepping seven-length win over Par Done My Putt and Wygant Knight.
Susan Durham and Linda MacDonald’s Leland (2:04.1, Brad Hanners) won the remaining colt division, holding off a fast-closing YMI Special in deep stretch for the win. Strike N Cash finished third.
Meanwhile, on the filly side, Erika Paradee’s Chocolate N Roses (Bret Brittingham) gained ground late to hold off Punks Embrace in a tight photo for a 2:01 triumph. What Would You Do was third.
In the second division, Nanticoke Racing’s Miss Snazz (2:03.1, Jim Morand) cruised to a two-length win over Par One’s Joy and Commando Chic. The DSBF pacing fillies will get underway Tuesday June 15, while the colts race Wednesday June 16. (Harrington)
