DSBF preliminaries raced

November 19, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) preliminaries got underway at Dover Downs on Saturday with two first leg events in both filly pace and filly trot divisions, and a pair of CR Commando's daughters won the trots, while Badlands Hanover and Powerful Toy progeny took the frosh filly paces.

In the first $15,000 DSBF prelim, Lloyd Arnold's Ms. Virginia took the lead at the start and was never challenged en route to a 1:59.4 victory. Devilish Miss (Les Givens) finished second in front of Star Commando (Tim Tetrick).

Neverenough Rusty, from the Carter Racing Stable and trainer Bobby Myers, pulled a mild surprise, scoring a 2:02.1 win in the second filly preliminary. Neverenough Rusty and driver Brad Hanners moved into the lead after the quarter and held it, holding off a determined bid from previously unbeaten rival Twilight Mist (Jim Thompson). Sammi Punk (Jim King) was third.

In DSBF filly pacing divisions, Free Admission, winner of the $100,000 DSBF final at Harrington earlier this season, made short work of five rivals in the first section. Steve Warrington took the Powerful Toy rookie right to the lead and never looked back in a 1:56.3 win for breeder-owners Joe and JoAnn Thomson. Love And Truth (Jim Morand) chased the winner home with Get Your Wish (Tony Morgan) in the three spot.

Double Flip, reined by Tony Morgan, made a powerful move around the final turn to overhaul pacesetting Honeyland (Brad Hanners) in 1:54.3 in an all Badlands Hanover trifecta. Relux Hanover (Eddie Davis Jr.) was the third across. (Dover Downs)
