Hanover Shoe Farms has announced the birth of the first full brother to 2007 Horse of the Year and world champion Donato Hanover 3,1:50.3 ($2,998,777). Donato’s dam, D Train, foaled a bay colt by Andover Hall on May 8 at 4:45 am. Both mare and foal are doing well.
D Train is also the dam of stakes winner Here Comes Herbie t, 3,1:52m $365,541. She will now be bred to 2009 Horse of the Year Muscle Hill.
“He’s a tall, correct colt that bears a striking resemblance to Donato as a foal except for a few white hairs on his forehead,” commented Hanover farm manager Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky.
Big brother Donato Hanover was a national season’s leader at two, winning eight of nine starts, including a 1:55 mile in the $465,000 Peter Haughton Memorial and finished his freshman season with a victory in the $600,000 Breeders Crown 2-year-old colt championship. At three, Donato led sophomore and all-age trotters by money-winnings with $2,336,190 earned in 13 starts, and trotted the fastest mile of 2007 in 1:50.1, a world record for 3-year-old trotters and equaling the all-age record at Lexington in the $356,160 Kentucky Futurity final. He also won the Hambletonian, Canadian Trotting Derby, World Trotting Derby and Stanley Dancer Memorial. (Hanover Shoe Farms)
