Dust All Over wins Sweden's Hambletonian for 4 year olds

Dust All OVer, a son of Super Arnie, won Sweden's SprinterM�staren (M�staren=Champion), a race also popularly called Sweden�s Hambletonian, on Thursday night, trotting to a 1;54.4 victory for trainer Roger Walmann, also known as the trainer of Giant Diablo and Surtees Hanover.

Orjan Kihlsstrom drove Dust All Over to the victory, striking from third on the outside while Artistic As cut the pace and then tired to third. Global Journey finished second.

The Sprinter Championship is raced over a mile for 4-year-old trotters. Since 2002 the race conditions have allowed foreign-bred trotters, including European and North American-breds.

The race has also been put together with a EURO Classic Trot, which began with the King�s Trophy in May (won in 2008 by Dust All Over) and with the Premio Continentale in Bologna as the third leg in September. The winner of these three stakes can earn a bonus of approximately $130,000.

The foreign representation was numerous this year and the Swedish breds were just enough to fill out one elim. However, the complexion of the race changed dramatically when the favorite, 2007 Hambletonian runner-up Adrian Chip (Andover Hall), came up with fever in the morning and had to be scratched.

The first elimination went to Santana �s (Spotlite Lobell-Perla d�Hilly by Mack Lobell) in a wire-to-wire performance. Looking for his form in seven earlier 2008 starts, he looked improved as he won easily in 1:55.3. The French horse Quip du Beauvoison (Ganym�de) enjoyed a pocket trip for second, while Armbro Escobar (Enjoy Lavec-Armbro Vanquish) was third.

Santana �s is trained and was driven by the Norwegian trainer, Tom Horpestad, who is based in Sweden, and owned by Tore Gard Invest AB of Norway.

Santana �s is bred by Ann Christin Lorentzon and John Erik Magnusson (ACL Farm).

The second elim had a heavy favorite, Artistic �s (Malabar Man-Feeling Blue by Mack Lobell), who looked like a winner for Erik Adielsson/Stig H. Johansson all the way from the front end. He was surprisingly passed with help of the open stretch by Global Journey (Self Possessed-Fling Ding by Royal Prestige) in 1:56.2.

�ke Svanstedt is the trainer and driver and he�s owned by the group Concho Stable. He�s bred by Hans Nel�n (Global Farm), a most frequent broodmare buyer at the U.S. Sales the past 10-15 years.

The King�s Trophy winner, Dust All Over (Super Arnie-Pinafore Miss, by Mystic Park), was third and is now the only challenger of the huge bonus.

The third elim ended with a real longshot when the Menhammar-bred horse Latitud finished rapidly to move ahead of the leader, Trustworthy �s (Dream Vacation-Keep the Word by Nevele Pride).

The heavy favorite, Harpers Joker (Andover Hall), destroyed his chances at the start and could not recover, while Evidence �s (Angus Hall-Fantasy Sund, by Meadow Road), made the eliminations a success for the ACL Farm (Ann Christin Lorentzon and John Erik Magnusson) as breeders.

Also, Mack Lobell had a most unexpected success as he has also sired the winner Latitud (Mack Lobell-Wind-surfing, by Nevele Pride). He was driven by Thomas Uhrberg and is trained and owned by S�lve B�ck and Catarina Hanell.
