According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper web site, early returns showed Broward County voters approving slot machines at the county's pari-mutuel facilities. With 621 of 810 Broward precincts reporting, 75,396 votes, or 56 percent, were cast in support of the plan to permit Las Vegas-style slot machines at seven dog and horse tracks and jai-alai frontons, compared with 58,401 votes, or 44 percent, against the measure.
