January 18, 2006 | Print View

Two divisions of the second round of the Champion On Ice Series for colt and gelding trotters headlined the Tuesday night program at Balmoral Park. In the first division Van Joe kept his 2006 record perfect as he won in 2:01.1 over a "good" track, while BC's Legend sprung an 11-1 upset in the second split with a 2:03.1 effort.

Owner-driver Andy Miller was behind Van Joe as the 5-year-old gelding moved to the lead and the stretch and drew off to win by 6 3/4 lengths. In last year's opening round of the series Van Joe romped by 14 lengths.

BC's Legend, trained and driven by Dirk Simpson, cruised home a 5 1/2-length winner over favorite AJ's Send Money.
