A total of 38 horses, including A “Who’s Who” of older pacers, comprise the list of eligibles to the 2007 Winbak Farm Pace, to be raced Jug Day afternoon, Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Delaware, OH County Fair.

This is the second year that Winbak Farm has sponsored the Winbak Farm Pace. Owned by Joe and Jo Ann Thomson, Winbak stands stalliions in Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario.

Among the  Winbak Farm eligibles are seven million-dollar winners with an average lifetime mark of 1:49.4. The fastest are Jereme’s Jet, Stonebridge Regal, Boulder Creek and Buckeye One at 1:48.1.

The 5-year-old stallion Lis Mara, who has been ranked No. 1 most of the year in the Standardbred Poll, is also scheduled to race in the Winbak Pace. Lis Mara is four-for-five with winnings of $233,950 this season.

A year ago Ponder equaled the world record and all-age track record of 1:49 to win the Winbak Farm Pace. The time equaled the clocking set by Jet Laag at Delaware in 1999.

“That is what is so great about the Winbak, you just might see a world record each year,” said Phil Terry, director of marketing for the Delaware Fair.

Included among the group of Winbak eligibles are five current season’s leaders, Gold Dust Beach, Jereme’s Jet, Maltese Artist, Stonebridge Regal and Thisbigdogwilfight. Special Report, with 10 victories and $330,225 already this season, also has been ranked all season in the weekly Standardbred poll.

Another top older pacer is Boulder Creek who won the $265,650 Classic at Mohawk over Lis Mara.

Ten colts who raced in the 2006 Jug also are among the eligibles, Armbro Damien, Dave Panlone, Eagle Luck, Jereme’s Jet, Perfect Union, Rock N Roll Star, Took Hanover, Total Truth, Western Ace and Western Star. (Little Brown Jug press release)
