December 27, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Elizabeth Ervin, 99, the widow of the late Hall of Fame horseman Frank Ervin, died Wednesday morning at her home in Orlando, Fla. Mrs. Ervin, who had been in poor health for several months, fell and broke her hip Friday, Dec. 22.

Mrs. Ervin accompanied her husband on the Grand Circuit throughout his racing career. The Ervins spent the winter months at their residence in Orlando, where Frank trained horses at Ben White Raceway.

A memorial service will be held in Orlando and Mrs. Ervin's body will then be flown to Missouri, where she will be buried next to her husband in the Ervin family plot in Sedalia, located just down the road from the State Fairgrounds, where the Ervin Stable was based in its early years.

Among Mrs. Ervin's survivors is her great nephew, Jay Farrar, who was with her when she died.
