Elsu's dam dies in NZ

Interchange, the dam of New Zealand’s champion pacer Elsu--and whose last foal is an Artsplace filly--has reportedly suddenly died at the age of 20. The cause of death was reported as a result of a twisted bowel caused by colic.

Elsu is New Zealand’s all-time richest pacer. Among his greatest accomplishments was a six-week period in 2005 when he won the Hunter Cup and swept the Inter Dominion Series. He also won two Auckland Cups, three Derbys, the Messenger, Taylor Mile and Sales Series Pace. Retired to stallion duty, Elsu’s first crop are weanlings this year.

Interchange, owned by the Les Girls No. 2 Syndicate, is also the dam of well-known New Zealand pacers Revonez, Revagain and Mombassa, one of last year’s leading 2 year olds.
 
At the time of her death, Interchange was in foal to champion pacer Christian Cullen, with the resulting yearling expecting to be one of the most valuable ever bred in that country.
